A pointed satire by John Owen (1766–1822), an English Anglican priest, and secretary on its foundation of the British and Foreign Bible Society, critiquing the vices of high society. Owen examines and dissects the conventions of 'The Fashionable World', including their views on government, law, religion and morality.
