8vo. [24], 84pp. With an engraved frontispiece. Title page in red and black. Contemporary gilt-ruled calf, with contrasting (modern) gilt-tooled red morocco lettering-piece to spine. Worn, with surface loss to boards, chipping to foot of spine, light scoring, and staining to upper board. With a pasted-in portrait of the author to second blank fly-leaf. Leaves browned, with scattered spotting and staining.
The most popular poetic work of English physician and writer Sir Samuel Garth (1661 – 1719), a mock-heroic satire pointed at the 'treatments' of British apothecaries and their endorsements by physicians.
